Patches, chevrons, stripes - these are all stripes. But, as always, there is a small “but”. After all, not every patch can be sewn on your favorite jeans, shirt or jacket, for example. In this article we will look at the main differences between kinds of stripes.

Chevrons

Everything is simple here. A chevron is a patch usually in the form of a shield or slogan. It can't be confused with anything. You have  seen it on police officers, military personnel, firefighters, etc. The chevrons indicate the rank and affiliation of these organizations. Everything is serious here :)

Patches

This is also a patch, usually embroidery or appliqué. It carries certain information or may simply be decoration, or something symbolic. We most often see patches on children, but today adults have also begun to more often choose clothes with symbolism and a certain meaning. Stripes

Stripes are everything else that you can stick on your clothes, even your own. This could be a 3-D picture, sequins or luminescent threads, for example. Or any other thing. The main thing is that you enjoy it and stand out from the crowd.

Why are stripes needed? 

  • To carry symbolism. This is if we are talking about special services. This is a mandatory attribute on their clothes.
  • To make your item unique. This could be embroidery, a pattern, an applique, an image or some kind of inscription. With it you can always look stylish and stand out from the crowd.
  • For branding. Many companies produce inscriptions or logos in the form of a patch and thereby popularize their product. It's part of style and style. Patches are attached to clothes, bags or accessories.
  • For clothing repair. If you don’t want to throw away damaged jeans, a shirt, a jacket or anything else, then an original patch can be your salvation. Probably, many mothers did this in childhood.

  3. Sew - on patches are the most popular type of patches. They sewed it on and it won’t go anywhere. This is done either by hand or using a sewing machine.
